The
launch of Microsoft Vista might be a step forward for computer technology but
sensible users will hold back before rushing out to the stores knowing that
Apple will soon bring out a new product of its own and that Vista is likely to
be at its most expensive during these initial few months. By contrast, the
broadband market is primed to be capitalised
on NOW – and several new offers could save you a fortune.
Firstly and arguably most
excitingly, is the launch of Virgin Media.
This combines four brands (ntl, telewest, Virgin Mobile and Virgin.net) into one
and will affect five million existing customers. Its products are split into two
categories – cable (available in about 50% of the UK market) and non-cable
(available everywhere). The non-cable products, while good, do not offer large
cost savings and are very similar to the offerings from BT. However, the cable
deals are among the best in the market.
With
Virgin Media 4 for £40
(combining broadband, phone, mobile phone and TV) you can save more than
£370/year* and with
3 for £30
(any three from a phone, mobile, TV and broadband) you can save up to
£250/year. The savings are made due to lower monthly fees and no line
rental. Let’s take a closer look at these deals:

than the
Sky broadband range. Sky has
launched a new product called See Surf Speak that has four new products offering
TV, phone and broadband ranging from
three for £15
to
three for £58.50. The key to these
deals is the range of TV channels you will receive – with the mid-range
three for £26 deal you will receive
8Mb/40Gb broadband, anytime UK landline calls
AND 120 TV channels.
Also watch
out for some new deals from
Orange.
